Polyglot Incarnate

Now, for those of you who actually clicked through and read the article, which probably most of you didn’t, I thought I would contextualize the 500 RMB (Yuan) or $78 fine that the 31 year old editor received. (I am loathe to post the same link twice because it seems redundant since we are all supposed to be constantly on Twitter, and intermitantly on Tumblr.)

Anyway. 500 RMB is a lot of money in China. My daily budget for food was 20 RMB per day. That’s just under $3.50 per day for food. 500 RMB is almost a month, a month’s worth of food. So no, the guy did not get off easy.
